In Türkiye the chimneys of liquid- and solid-fuel boilers must be cleaned by authorised persons at least twice a year; the building owner and manager are responsible (Fire Protection of Buildings Regulation, Article 58(5)). With solid or high-soot fuel, pipes are cleaned monthly and chimneys every two months.
Under Türkiye's Regulation on the Fire Protection of Buildings, the chimneys of liquid- and solid-fuel boilers have a soot cleaning opening at the bottom and must be cleaned by authorised persons at least twice a year. Chimney cleaning is done by the local fire brigade; where private firms operate with the fire brigade's permission at the price tariff set by the municipal council, cleaning may also be done by them (Article 58(11)).

The building owner and manager (Article 58(5)). For natural-gas combi boilers and water heaters, chimney construction, annual maintenance and cleaning are done by experts trained and designated by the gas distribution companies, who also check the chimneys and fresh-air inlets (Article 58(12)).
If the deadline passes
Anyone acting contrary to the Regulation is dealt with under the Turkish Penal Code or the Misdemeanours Law, depending on whether the breach is a crime or a misdemeanour; other sanctions in the relevant legislation remain applicable (Article 168).
Other chimney rules
Chimney installations must comply with the relevant Turkish Standards; a separate chimney is preferably used for each boiler, and stove and water-heater pipes may not be connected to boiler chimneys (Article 58(1)). A separate ventilation shaft is built for the boiler room (Article 58(2)). Natural-gas appliances without a flue gas sensor may not be used (Article 58(12)).
