Repeat OHS training on time
Employers in Türkiye must provide occupational health and safety training (Law No. 6331, Article 17), repeated yearly with 16 hours in very hazardous workplaces, every 2 years with 12 hours in hazardous and every 3 years with 8 hours in low-hazard ones. Extra training follows an accident or 6 months away.
Under Türkiye's Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, the employer must ensure that employees receive occupational health and safety training. How often the training is repeated depends on the workplace's hazard class.
As headcount grows, every employee's next training date differs; seeing all dates in one list keeps nobody's training from lapsing.
At a glance
| Hazard class | Repeat at least | Minimum duration |
|---|---|---|
| Very hazardous | Once a year | 16 hours |
| Hazardous | Every 2 years | 12 hours |
| Low hazard | Every 3 years | 8 hours |
Additional training is required after an occupational accident or disease, and refresher training on return after more than 6 months away from work (Law No. 6331, Article 17).
Who is responsible?
The employer (Law No. 6331, Article 17/1).
If the deadline passes
An employer who fails to provide the training is subject to an administrative fine for each breach, per employee (Law No. 6331, Article 26/1-ğ). The amount is revised yearly; check the source for the current figure.
Tracking it with ExpirySuite
- Create an "OHS training" document for each employee with the next training date as the expiry date.
- Reminders arrive 60, 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before; overdue training is also reported to managers.
- On the Business plan, a requirement rule can make the training mandatory for every employee, so missing records show up in one list.
