Track fire extinguisher inspection and refill dates

In Türkiye portable fire extinguishers get a general on-site inspection once a year under TS ISO 11602-2, and at the end of the fourth year the agent is replaced and a hydrostatic test done (Fire Protection of Buildings Regulation, Article 99/7). The building owner, manager or their written delegate is responsible.

Under Türkiye's Regulation on the Protection of Buildings from Fire, portable extinguishers are serviced according to TS ISO 11602-2: a general on-site inspection once a year, and at the end of the fourth year the extinguishing agent is replaced and a hydrostatic test performed.

The service company must hold a refill and service competence certificate and must leave an equivalent extinguisher in place while the unit is away.

Who is responsible?

The building owner, the building manager, or the person to whom they have delegated responsibility in writing (Article 100/1).

A common mistake

The claim that extinguishers must be checked every six months does not appear in the regulation, which requires a general inspection once a year and a refill with a hydrostatic test at the end of the fourth year. If your service contract sets a shorter interval, that comes from the contract, not the law.

Tracking it with ExpirySuite

  1. Add each extinguisher (or each location) as equipment and keep two documents: "annual inspection" and "refill/test".
  2. Attach the service report to the document; a reminder arrives as the next date approaches.
  3. Managers are notified separately about overdue inspections.
