Keep track of your biocide applicator certificates

Biocide applicator and responsible manager certificates in Türkiye are valid for ten years; an expired certificate is renewed with at least eight hours of refresher training after an assessment (Biocidal Products Use Regulation, Article 27(13)). Only holders with a certificate and health report may work as applicators.

Under Türkiye's Regulation on the Procedures and Principles for the Use of Biocidal Products, training for people working against public health pests is given in two categories: responsible manager training and applicator training (Article 27(1)). Certificates are valid for ten years; holders whose certificates have expired renew them by completing, depending on an assessment, a refresher training of at least eight hours (Article 27(13)).

Applicator staff must hold the health report required by the regulation and must have attended the training set by the Ministry and obtained a certificate (Article 10(1)). Professionals eligible to be responsible managers must also attend the Ministry's training programme and obtain a certificate (Article 8(1)). Applicator certificates approved by the Provincial Health Directorate are entered in the electronic system by the Directorate (Article 27(8)).

Who is responsible?

The certificate belongs to the individual; only people with a certificate and a health report may work as applicators (Article 10(1)). At the business, the responsible manager reports required staff changes on time, and the details of staff who leave or are dismissed within one week at the latest, to the Provincial Health Directorate (Article 8(2)(c) and 8(2)(ç)). Responsible managers and applicators are issued ID cards, which must be visibly worn during applications (Article 7(3)).

If the deadline passes

Action is taken against those who breach the regulation under Public Health Law No. 1593 and Turkish Penal Code No. 5237 (Article 29).

Why plan the renewal early?

The regulation says expired certificates are renewed through a refresher training of at least eight hours, depending on an assessment (Article 27(13)), but sets no application deadline. You cannot change ExpirySuite's reminder timings, so if you want to plan the refresher training earlier, add a second record dated when you want to apply for the training.
