Never let a fleet vehicle's CNG sticker expire unnoticed
A vehicle's complete CNG equipment is inspected every year at an authorised installation workshop and the inspection is valid for one year (ENARGAS annual inspection procedure). The workshop issues the sticker (oblea) fixed to the windscreen; without a valid sticker the vehicle cannot refuel with CNG.
According to Argentina's gas regulator (website enargas.gob.ar, now shown as ENReGE, the National Gas and Electricity Regulator), the technical inspection of a vehicle's complete CNG (compressed natural gas, GNC) equipment must be carried out every year at an authorised installation workshop (Taller de Montaje). The inspection is valid for one year.
After the inspection, the workshop issues the refuelling authorisation sticker (oblea de habilitación), which is stuck in the upper right corner of the windscreen, together with the technical data form, the CNG equipment identification card and, where applicable, the cylinder inspection certificate. To refuel with CNG, the sticker must be valid and stuck to the windscreen: if it is missing or damaged, the vehicle cannot refuel.
Besides the yearly equipment inspection, the CNG cylinder has a periodic inspection every five years: the workshop sends it to a Periodic Cylinder Inspection Centre for inspection and hydraulic testing, and hands over the pass or fail certificate.

To access the Mandatory Technical Inspection (RTO), vehicles running on CNG or LNG must show compliance with ENARGAS Resolution 139/1995 and its amendments (Decree 779/95, Annex 1, Article 34(13)).
Who is responsible?
The user of the CNG vehicle takes it to an authorised installation workshop. The workshop must carry out the inspection in line with the rules in force, and the work must be supervised by its Technical Representative.
If the deadline passes
Without a valid sticker stuck to the windscreen, the vehicle cannot refuel with CNG. In addition, a CNG or LNG vehicle that does not show compliance with ENARGAS Resolution 139/1995 cannot access the RTO (Decree 779/95, Annex 1, Article 34(13)).
Replacing the windscreen voids the sticker
If the windscreen breaks and has to be replaced, the CNG sticker automatically loses its validity and a new annual equipment inspection is needed. In that case, update the date on the vehicle's record. A CNG vehicle that has been in a collision or a fire should not run on gas until an authorised installation workshop has checked the equipment.
Tracking it with ExpirySuite
- Add each CNG vehicle and record its sticker expiry date; to track the cylinder too, create a separate record with its five-year expiry.
- Email reminders arrive 60, 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before expiry and on the expiry day.
- The workshop or the driver can upload the new technical data form or a photo of the sticker through a secure link that is valid for 14 days and needs no account.
- Assign a responsible person to each vehicle, such as the fleet manager; if a sticker expires, managers get further reminders 3, 7 and 14 days later.
