Keep each workplace's NOM-035 assessment on schedule
Mexican workplaces with more than 15 workers identify psychosocial risk factors, and those with more than 50 also assess the organisational environment, at least every two years (NOM-035-STPS-2018, points 5.2, 5.3 and 7.9). The employer keeps the records and the STPS checks the interval (points 10.4 and 11).
Mexican Official Standard NOM-035-STPS-2018, published in the DOF on 23 October 2018, applies nationwide to all workplaces, with different obligations depending on headcount (point 2). Workplaces with 16 to 50 workers must identify and analyse psychosocial risk factors, covering all workers; those with more than 50 must also assess the organisational environment, and may use a representative sample (points 5.2, 5.3 and 7.1).
The identification and analysis of psychosocial risk factors and the assessment of the organisational environment must be carried out at least every two years (point 7.9). The result must be recorded in a report, be available for workers to consult and be included in the occupational health and safety diagnosis under NOM-030-STPS-2009 (points 7.6 to 7.8).
The employer may choose to hire an accredited and approved verification unit; its opinion (dictamen) is valid for two years, provided the conditions on which it was issued do not change (points 9.1 and 9.4).
At a glance

| 16 to 50 workers | Identification and analysis of psychosocial risk factors covering all workers (points 5.2 and 7.1(a)) |
| More than 50 workers | Also an organisational environment assessment; a representative sample is allowed (points 5.3 and 7.1(b)) |
| Result | Report with the content listed in point 7.7, available to workers (point 7.8) |
| Verification unit opinion | Optional; valid for two years if conditions do not change (points 9.1 and 9.4) |

Who is responsible?
The employer: it must identify and analyse psychosocial risk factors and, with more than 50 workers, assess the organisational environment, and keep records of the results (points 5.2, 5.3 and 5.8). Workers must take part in the identification and, where applicable, the assessment (point 6.3).
If the deadline passes
Compliance is overseen by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (point 11). During labour inspections, compliance is checked through documents or interviews, including the frequency required by point 7.9 (points 10.1 and 10.2). If more than two years have passed since the last identification and analysis, the workplace no longer meets that point.
