Never let a worker's TPC card expire unnoticed
The Spanish construction worker card, issued by the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción, expires five years after issue (Article 161 of the 7th General Collective Agreement for the Construction Sector). Renewal needs at least thirty days registered in the sector in the previous sixty months.
The Tarjeta Profesional de la Construcción (TPC) is the card issued by the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (FLC) to certify, among other things, a worker's sector-specific occupational safety training, professional category and periods of employment with different companies (Article 154.1 of Spain's 7th General Collective Agreement for the Construction Sector). It also certifies that the holder has received at least the initial safety training and has undergone the medical examinations provided for in the agreement (Article 156).
The TPC expires five years after it is issued. To renew it, the holder must show at least thirty days registered with companies covered by the agreement in the sixty months immediately before the application; renewal follows the same procedure as the first application (Article 161).
The 7th Collective Agreement runs until 31 December 2026 and, after that, remains in force until a new one replaces it (Article 7).

The worker applies for the card and renews it (Articles 157 and 161). The holder must keep the card in perfect condition and tell the FLC about relevant changes to their details and, where applicable, about theft or loss (Article 163). Workers supplied by temporary employment agencies must hold the TPC where applicable (Article 24).
If the deadline passes
After five years the card expires. It can only be renewed if the holder shows at least thirty days registered with companies covered by the agreement in the sixty months before the renewal application (Article 161).
